Classe 1973, romano, si avvicina alla fotografia sin dall'età di un anno, nel ruolo di modello per le foto di rito da bambino: dei fantastici nudi artistici. Riesce ad arrivare dietro l'obiettivo solamente in tarda età, utilizzando una Canon AE-1 del 1980 di proprietà paterna e, dopo alcuni scatti rubati in vacanza, è tra i primi acquirenti di una fotocamera digitale, una Kodak a fuoco fisso da 1.3 Megapixel. Dal 1997 è webmaster e direttore del fanclub internazionale dedicato a Paul McCartney (www.paulmccartney.fm). Suona in una band e scrive canzoni dal 1990. Si occupa di grafica e web design, montaggio video e non solo. Intervista grandi personaggi della scena rock internazionale (dagli Yes a Bill Wyman degli Stones). Dal 2001 si occupa della comunicazione web di locali (www.stazionebirra.it), aziende, band e della manifestazione estiva Romaestate (www.romaestate.net) che ospita importanti appuntamenti musicali nella struttura del Centrale del Tennis (James Brown, Robert Plant, Dream Theater, Yes, Jethro Tull, Solomom Burke, G3, Oasis, Alanis Morrisette, Van Der Graff Generator, Mark Knopfler, Evenescence e tanti altri). Spinto a migliorarsi per documentare gli eventi tenuti durante questa manifestazione, si specializza nel raccogliere materiale fotografico in situazioni live. Anche dopo Romaestate, durante l'inverno, continua a fotografare incessamente quasi tutte le sere in tutte le location possibili e immaginabili, fino ad arrivare sotto al palco del LIVE8, a Londra, al cospetto dei Pink Floyd riuniti e di Sir Paul McCartney. Diverse richieste in ambito musicale lo portano anche in studio per completare la comunicazione di diverse band con servizi e cd concept design. Diventato il fotografo LIVE più attivo nella capitale, al momento della pubblicazione di questo testo il suo portfolio raccoglie più di 1000 artisti fotografati, numero che cresce di sera in sera. Un mix di passione per la musica e per la fotografia che fanno dei suoi lavori un riferimento per la fotografia del genere.

Born in Rome in 1973, Simone Cecchetti was introduced to the world of photography at an early age, posing naked on a rug for his parents’ family album. Finally managing to get his eye behind the lens many years later, he first used his father’s 1980 Canon AE-1 to take a few holiday snaps and then acquired one of the first digital cameras - a 1.3 Megapixel fixed focus Kodak - on the market. Since 1990 he has been part of a band and composer of songs, while since 1997 he has been webmaster and editor-in-chief of www.paulmccartney.fm, the international fanzine dedicated to Paul McCartney. He is also active in the fields of graphic and web design, video editing and web communication and since 2001 he has been responsible for the web communications of various venues in Rome. Since 2001 he has been responsible for the web communications of Romaestate (www.romaestate.net), a summer music festival which has seen the participation of some of the world’s most important musicians (James Brown, Robert Plant, Dream Theater, Yes, Jethro Tull, Solomon Burke, G3, Oasis, Alanis Morissette, Van Der Graff Generator, Mark Knopfler, Evanescence and many more). He has also interviewed such international rock celebrities as Yes and Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones). Stimulated by the experience of the Romaestate festival, since 2001 he has specialized in the photography of live music events, incessantly documenting as many gigs in as many different locations on as many different nights as possible. The highlight of his career so far has perhaps been his work at LIVE 8 in London where he photographed Pink Floyd together with Sir Paul McCartney. Requests from the world of music have also seen him direct studio sessions aimed at completing the communications campaigns (photographs and CD design projects) of various bands. He is undoubtedly the most active live music photographer in Rome and boasts a portfolio of photos of over 1000 artistes, although obviously this number continues to increase night after night. Simone Cecchetti’s passion for music and talent for photography make his work a point of reference for all photographers wishing to pursue a career in live music photography.
